Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has shared that at 44, she believes she has never experienced true love except from her son, Jamil.
Speaking in an interview with Zeze Mills, the award-winning artist reflected on her past relationships, saying they were driven by infatuation rather than genuine love.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.
Savage admitted she has tried repeatedly to find real love but has come to accept that it may not be part of her journey.
“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.
Tiwa Savage married her former manager, Tunji Balogun (Teebillz), in 2013, but they divorced in 2018 after several unsuccessful attempts at reconciliation. Their union produced their son, Jamil.
