Award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about a shift in her approach to romantic relationships, revealing that she is no longer interested in dating men who aren’t financially ahead of her.
In a recent interview with British media personality Zeze Mills, the Koroba hitmaker reflected on her past relationship choices, admitting that she used to prioritize love over money.
“I used to make mistake dating down, saying I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love,” she shared.
However, Tiwa stated that she’s reached a new phase in her life where financial status now plays a major role in her choice of a partner.
“But now, I think I need someone that just has money. I think I’m at that point now. Love is really nice but you can judge me for wanting a wealthier person if you want,” she added.
She explained that after years of trying to build relationships with men who didn’t match her financially, she now wants to explore the experience of dating someone more affluent.
“I want to try that [dating someone who’s wealthier]. I have tried the other way for so many years. Let me try what it’s like dating a wealthy man,” she concluded.
