Singer Tiwa Savage expressed her frustration about being constantly compared to other female artists by passionate fans.
She mentioned that eager fans often compare her to every upcoming female artist, suggesting that these artists are aiming to dethrone her.
The actress from ‘Water & Garri’ emphasized that she actively seeks to befriend emerging female artists because she believes that music should not be a competition.
Tiwa Savage shared these thoughts in a recent interview with BET.
Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian singer, stated, “Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’

“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition. The real competition is the male artists. I was happy that Tyla, a female artist won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
