Tito Jackson, the cherished musician and founding member of the iconic Jackson 5, and brother to Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 70.
The news was announced by his children on Sunday, September 16th, 2024, bringing sorrow to fans and family alike.
While initial reports suggest Tito may have died from a heart attack, the Jackson family has not yet confirmed the official cause of death.
Tito is survived by his three children—Taj, Taryll, and TJ—who continue his musical legacy through their group, 3T, as well as by his grandchildren. His ex-wife, Delores Martes, passed away in 1994.
In an Instagram post, his children TJ, Taj, and Taryll expressed their grief: “With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, has left us. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an amazing man who deeply cared about everyone and their well-being.”
Tito’s death adds to a period of mourning for fans and the music community, following the earlier losses of his brother Michael in 2009 and their father Joe Jackson in 2018.
