President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to hold the second Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of his administration today. The Council has not met since its inaugural meeting on August 28, which took place a week after Tinubu inaugurated 45 ministers on August 21. Today’s meeting will witness the swearing-in of three additional ministers, bringing the total number of ministers in the president’s 48-person cabinet to 48. The three new ministers to be sworn in are Jamila Bio, Ayodele Olawande, and Balarabe Lawal from Kaduna State. According to a senior official in the Presidency, who preferred to remain anonymous, the three new ministers will be sworn in at the Council Chamber of the State House before the FEC meeting commences. Bio and Olawande are expected to assume the offices of the Minister of Youth and the Minister of State for Youth, respectively.

Article 144 (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) recognizes the Federal Executive Council as the body of Ministers of the Government of the Federation. It is charged with the responsibility of carrying out the functions of government as directed by the President.
