President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed the rescue of several abducted citizens as security agencies intensify nationwide operations.
According to the president, all 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, have been successfully freed by security personnel.
Tinubu announces recovery of abducted students
He also revealed that 51 students taken from a Catholic school in Niger State have been recovered. Tinubu noted that he has been receiving frequent briefings from security operatives involved in ongoing rescue missions.
President emphasises renewed commitment to national safety
Tinubu explained that he cancelled his participation in the G20 Summit in South Africa in order to directly oversee the nation’s security response. He assured Nigerians that protecting lives remains his administration’s top priority.
Reaffirming his stance, the president stated that no citizen should have to live in fear, pledging that the government will continue its efforts until peace and stability are fully restored.

“My fellow Nigerians,
You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home.
Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.
I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.
I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.
Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.
