President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the family of Issa Hayatou, the former President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who passed away on Thursday at the age of 77.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu extended his sympathies to the Cameroonian Football Federation, the people of Cameroon, and the African football community.
He acknowledged the death of the iconic football administrator as a significant loss, emphasizing Hayatou’s vital role in advancing the sport both in Africa and globally.
Hayatou also served as the acting President of FIFA, the world’s football governing body, during his illustrious career.
President Tinubu offered prayers for Hayatou’s soul to rest in peace and for his family to find strength during this challenging time.
