President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered cement manufacturers to return to the previous pricing of cement, as confirmed by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, following an inspection of the BUA cement factory in Sokoto. The President mandated the manufacturers to revert to the old prices during a meeting with them. Senator Umahi urged the cement companies to follow through with the President’s directive to achieve a massive housing programme and the renewed hope agenda of the President. He also praised the BUA company’s management for maintaining cleanliness throughout its premises. The Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Dave Umahi, announced this development in Sokoto while joined by Senator Aminu Tambuwal, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing. The Minister announced the federal government’s plan to construct a 372-kilometre dual carriageway road from Zaria to Sokoto State, and the second 372 kilometers will be conducted with pure concrete in line with the renewed hope agenda of Mr President. Senator Aminu Tambuwal praised BUA management for meeting its obligations effectively and urged the company to enhance its production capacity and make its product accessible to the public at reasonable prices. The BUA company’s managing director, Yusuf Binji, affirmed that the fifth production line would significantly boost product output, and the rise in cement production would additionally drive down its market price. President Tinubu cautioned the organised labour, emphasising that they do not exclusively represent the voice of the Nigerian people, in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday. It is unreasonable for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to advocate for a strike within just nine months of an administration, he stressed.
