Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has cleared the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, of being a drug trafficker.
Tinubu, according to Keyamo, only shared a block of flats with drug lords about 30 years ago in the United States, US.
Documents from a Chicago District Court allegedly indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealing and money laundering in 1993 surfaced online a few days ago.
According to the document, Tinubu entered a plea bargain in 1993 that resulted in the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities.
The APC presidential candidate was accused of forfeiting $460,000 in his First Heritage Bank bank account to the US government.
Keyamo, however, insisted that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbors.
On Channels TV on Wednesday, the spokesman for the APC presidential campaign council spoke.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people.
“I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.”
