President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning against unauthorized family members gaining access to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Speaking before the commencement of the most recent FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, President Tinubu expressed his concern about a photograph he had seen showing his son, Seyi, in attendance at the previous FEC meeting. He emphasized that such actions are not permissible.
In his remarks, as reported by Vanguard, the President stated that only individuals who have been officially invited should be allowed access to the FEC meeting. He said, “I observed last week that some people were coming in and out of this council without proper authorization. I saw a photo of my son, Seyi, seated in the meeting, and this is not acceptable.”
Furthermore, President Tinubu went on to specify the names of those individuals who are allowed to attend the council meeting. He mentioned, “I will now inform you of the individuals who are authorized to be present.”
He added, “Hadiza Usman, Special Adviser on Policy Coordination; Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy; Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Principal Private Secretary; and Damilotun Aderemi, Private Secretary.”
The President stressed that these individuals are the exceptions permitted to be at the council meeting when the nation’s affairs are being addressed.
He concluded by directing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, to take note of his directive, saying, “Unless the individuals mentioned are part of your staff, no one should have access to the FEC meeting unless I have officially announced their presence to you.”
