Popular TikToker Peller is facing intense criticism on social media after referring to Nigerian Afrobeats star Runtown as an “up-and-coming artist.”
During a recent livestream, Peller’s co-host suggested that he collaborate with Runtown, but he dismissed the idea, insisting he only wanted well-established artists.
“Who is Runtown? That one never blow. We don’t know him. Give me another name. Runtown? Don’t bring upcoming artists to my live video. I want artistes who are already big,” he said.
His remarks sparked widespread backlash, with many accusing him of disrespecting Runtown, a key figure in Afrobeats innovation.
Peller has previously featured top artists such as Olamide, Tiwa Savage, and Davido on his livestream.
Runtown first gained attention with his 2014 hit Gallardo featuring Davido and rose to international fame with his 2016 single Mad Over You.
