Nigerian TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has addressed the backlash he faced over his remarks on the viral ‘30 Days Rant Challenge.’
His comments sparked widespread criticism, resulting in a sharp decline in his follower count across social media platforms.
Previously, Peller had urged Nigerians to refrain from using TikTok for the challenge, warning that such actions could lead to the government banning the platform. Instead, he suggested other ways to voice concerns, such as Instagram or physical protests, to avoid potential restrictions on TikTok in Nigeria.
However, his stance did not sit well with many, leading to a mass exodus of followers.
In an interview with TVC, Peller disclosed that he lost nearly 500,000 followers on TikTok and 400,000 on Instagram after making his statement.
In a recent video addressing the controversy, he clarified that he was never against the challenge but was only concerned about its possible repercussions.
He emphasized that he holds no influence over government decisions, stating:
“Please, this boy is nobody. I’m just an ordinary citizen like you. I’m not the president or a governor.”
Despite the criticism, Peller urged Nigerians to focus on the country’s real issues instead of channeling their frustration toward him.
