A mild drama occurred on Friday at the Benin Airport when some hoodlums nearly marred the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to perform the foundation-laying ceremony of a $1bn independent power plant in Uhumwode Local Government Area of Edo State.
The over 30 hoodlums were said to have stormed the airport, chanting anti-Oshiomhole songs as the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, was at the airport to receive the President.
The hoodlums, who also carried placards and posters of a Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker who was attacked by suspected thugs on Tuesday night, were said to have allegedly assaulted some senior officials of the Edo State Government, including the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Patrick Obahiagbon.
The disruption was said to have lasted for several minutes before security personnel dispersed the hoodlums.
