Haruna Isah has been appointed Secretary of the Anti-Thuggery Standing Committee by the Zamfara State Government ahead of the 2023 elections.
On Friday, the committee’s chairman, Bello Bakyasuwa, met with Isah at the committee’s secretariat in Gusau.
Bakyasuwa charged him with carrying out his duties without fear or favor.
The team, which is made up of security personnel from various agencies, is expected to combat political thuggery ahead of the general elections.
Bakyasuwa stated that the committee was formed by Governor Bello Matawalle to keep the peace in the state.
“With political activities for the 2023 elections rapidly approaching, we are urging youths to refrain from thuggery and drug abuse,” he added.
Isah previously served as the Secretary of the Zamfara Road Transport Agency (ZAROTA).
