The Conference of Yoruba Obas has unanimously endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the February 25 election.
The traditional rulers of the Yoruba people from Ekiti, Lagos, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo states made the announcement in a communique issued following a meeting at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan in Oyo state, according to Daily Trust.
Tinubu’s presentation during the meeting was well received by the traditional rulers.
Traditional rulers from other Yoruba-speaking states, Kwara and Kogi, were also said to have backed the former governor of Lagos state.

The Yoruba traditional leaders stated that Tinubu is well-qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s leader.
Tinubu’s “solid democratic credentials and unwavering commitment to the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria” were lauded by the monarchs.
“It’s a clear endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a result of his excellent track record and great achievement which put him above other candidates as the only personality that would bring unity, fairness and justice to the Nigeria system,” the communique read in part.
2023 presidency: Five opposition parties endorse Tinubu
In a related development, five opposition political parties in Oyo state have endorsed the APC presidential flagbearer, Tinubu, as their preferred candidate in the February 25 election.
The parties are Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Booth Party (BP).
The decision to endorse the former governor of Lagos state was taken by their respective gubernatorial candidates at a press conference in Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday, February 22.
