Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the new minister in charge of the Ministry of Youth on Sunday.
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, announced the news in a statement.
According to Ngelale, the Senate must confirm the nomination.

Jamila Bio Ibrahim, 37, is a physician, politician, and development specialist.
She works for the government and is a supporter of the UN’s global goals.
Ibrahim served as the governor of Kwara State’s senior special assistant for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Daughter of Ibrahim Isa Bio, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives and two-term speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly. He served as minister of sports under Goodluck Jonathan and minister of transportation under Yar Adua.
She served as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Young Women Forum’s (APC PYWF) national president.
She previously served as the Governor of Kwara State’s Senior Special Assistant on health concerns.
Jamila had participated in a volunteer program run by The Presidential Committee on the NorthEast in the northeastern part of Nigeria. She helped vulnerable and internally displaced people in the area and worked as a volunteer on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s general election 2019 campaign route.
The ministerial nominee has received several awards for their work in the fields of water, sanitation, and hygiene, including the Clean Nigeria Ambassador Award, the UN Peace Ambassador Award from the International Association of World Peace Advocates, and the Distinguished Honorary Award from UNESCO Nigeria for their support of the SDGs and education.
Jamila had spoken on international stages for both Nigeria and Kwara State, including the African Union and the United Nations.
