The Lagos State Government has ordered a coroner’s inquest into the death of late Bimbo, the wife of auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD.

The Lagos socialite is being held at the Panti, Yaba Police Station by the Police State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

IVD’s wife of about two decades died on October 15, days after she suffered fire injuries in their Lekki home at Megamound Estate.

Moyosore Onigbanjo, the Lagos Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, promised a thorough investigation in a statement on Tuesday.

The Senior Advocate stated that the findings would be made public in due course, and that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on anyone found guilty.

“A coroner’s inquest has immediately been requested, in line with sections 14 and 15 of the Coroners’ Systems Law, Laws of Lagos State 2015, to determine the cause and circumstances of death.”

The Commissioner stated that the government prioritized citizens’ security and well-being.

Onigbanjo tasked the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) with assisting the Police and other law enforcement agencies in investigating the case.

Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of the DSVA, reiterated the state’s determination to ensure perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence face the full force of the law.

Vivour-Adeniyi urged residents in Alausa, Ikeja, to report cases of domestic and sexual assault to the DSVA office.
