Officials from the Nigerian Correctional Service have guaranteed Mr Idris Okuneye’s safety, popularly known as Bobrisky, in the male section of the prison during his six-month imprisonment. This decision was made after Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court sentenced Bobrisky to jail, following his guilty plea to a four-count charge of naira abuse.
Bobrisky confirmed his gender status during the court proceedings, stating that he identifies as a man. However, the prison officials assured that they would take appropriate steps to protect Bobrisky from potential sexual abuse from other inmates. They reassured him that he needn’t worry about sexual violence from other male inmates, as their men can provide him with protection.
