After a three-hour behind-closed-doors vetting process, the Senate approved Major General Christopher Musa’s appointment as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on Thursday, July 13.
According to The Nation, the Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, also approved the nominations of other service chiefs that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had forwarded to the Senate for approval.
Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Air Vice Marshall Hassan Abubakar are the service chiefs whose nominations were approved by the senate. Lagbaja is the head of the army staff.
On Tuesday, July 11, Tinubu asked the senate to examine and approve the candidates for important appointments put out by the CDS and other service heads. They have now heeded.
