Funke Akindele, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Lagos state governor, has been chased out of the Ketu fruit market.
According to PM News, the Nollywood actress-turned-politician was harassed by hoodlums in the market where she went to campaign before the election.
In response to the incident, the PDP governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, stated that one of the team’s supporters was stabbed during the attack on Tuesday, January 24.
Jandor confirmed that Akindele had left the campaign train while the team was still moving around the council’s streets.
During a meeting with the chief IImam of Ketu Central Mosque, Jandor confirmed that one of his security team members had been stabbed, while others, including journalists, had been injured.
However, noting that the hoodlums’ attack had not deterred him, Jandor stated that his desire is to free the state from bondage and rescue it by allowing the state’s wealth to work for the people.
His words:
“What is happening we do not want it again. It is not good for democracy, but despite the attacks, we are moving and still motivated to rescue our people.
“I know it is only God that can give and take, if God gives you no one can take.”
