Tension engulfed Ikire, a town in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday after an attack on the convoy of renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
The incident, which took place in the afternoon, involved suspected hoodlums who allegedly pelted the vehicles with stones and fired shots at them. Among the vehicles attacked were a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux truck, both of which sustained visible damage, according to eyewitnesses.
It remains uncertain if any member of Pasuma’s entourage sustained injuries during the attack.
A video that has since circulated widely on social media captures the chaotic aftermath, with distressed voices in the background. One individual can be heard saying in Pidgin English, “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey.”
Attempts by journalists to get a response from Pasuma or his management have so far been unsuccessful.
The incident sparked panic among residents, disrupting local activities and causing fear among pedestrians and business owners.
Pasuma was reportedly in Osun State for a performance, although specific details about his visit remain unconfirmed.
As of the time of this report, the Osun State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the attack or confirm any arrests.
