Nigerian singer and songwriter Teni has sparked conversation online after a video from her recent live performance in Akwa Ibom State surfaced on social media.
The performance took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium during an event organised to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day.
In the viral clip shared on Sunday, March 8, the singer was seen entertaining the audience with her 2018 hit song Case. While performing, she attempted to move toward the VIP section where several dignitaries were seated, including Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Umo Eno, and Godswill Akpabio.
As Teni approached the area, security officials were seen trying to stop her from getting closer to the dignitaries. Despite the attempt to hold her back, another clip showed the singer managing to move past them and eventually gaining access to the section.
After reaching the VIP area, she interacted with Akpabio and Governor Eno while continuing her performance, encouraging them to sing along to parts of the song before transitioning to another track.
Another moment from the video showed Teni kneeling respectfully before the First Lady during the interaction.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, particularly regarding the moment security tried to stop the singer from approaching the First Lady.
In related news, a separate video recently showed Oluremi Tinubu sharing a lighthearted table tennis match with Governor Umo Eno, as spectators around them watched and cheered.
