Following terror alerts issued by the United States and other Western countries, the Taiwanese government has also advised its citizens not to travel to Abuja and Sandton in South Africa.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Taiwanese citizens on Saturday against traveling to Nigeria’s capital Abuja and Sandton, Johannesburg’s financial center, following terror alerts issued by the United States and some other Western countries,” according to Focus Taiwan, a Republic of China news agency and influential news organization in Taiwan.
“The ministry also instructed Taiwan’s representative offices in Nigeria and South Africa to alert Taiwanese living in those countries of possible terror attacks so they can avoid going to the targeted areas, according to a statement issued by the ministry Saturday. The US, UK, Canada, Australia and some European countries have issued a security advisory to their citizens in Nigeria due to an “elevated threat of terrorist attack” in Abuja.”
