British rapper Stormzy has been handed a nine-month driving ban in the UK.
The ban was issued by the Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after an off-duty police officer spotted him using a mobile phone while driving his Rolls-Royce in London.
District Judge Andrew Sweet imposed the ban after Stormzy admitted to the offense via a written plea. The incident occurred in West Kensington on March 7, 2024.
The judge criticized the rapper’s driving record, describing his actions as “dangerous and irresponsible.” In addition to the ban, Stormzy was fined £2,010 ($2,498), and six penalty points were added to his licence.
Prior to this, Stormzy already had six points on his licence for a previous speeding violation.
Under UK law, drivers face disqualification if they accumulate 12 or more penalty points within three years.
