Nigerian singer Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has urged fellow artists to stop focusing on achieving number 1 hits on streaming platforms.
Instead, he advised them to prioritize honing their craft, pointing out that streaming numbers on one platform often don’t align with those on others.
“Forget social media algorithms and focus on your art. Ever heard of a guy named Killer Mike? Probably not … 4-time Grammy winner.
“Stop chasing number 1 songs—it’s overrated now; everything is controllable. Most of those numbers don’t match up across platforms … check it out,” he shared.
In a follow-up post, Kizz Daniel clarified that while he doesn’t oppose using bots to increase streams, viewing it as a marketing tactic, he believes it’s more suited for newer artists trying to establish themselves.
He emphasized that his comments weren’t meant as criticism but rather to encourage emerging artists to release music confidently, even without guaranteed streaming success.
“Stream farming isn’t a crime; it’s marketing … for placement and exposure … but only for those who can afford it.
“No shade here—just encouraging the new generation to showcase those hidden gems. I want to learn too,” he added.
