Singer Speed Darlington has fired back at those advising him to drop his feud with Burna Boy, telling them to leave if they are no longer willing to support him.
His statement comes shortly after parting ways with his lawyer, Stanley Alieke. According to NAIJALOG, Alieke had recently announced via Instagram that his law firm, Law Capitol, had severed ties with the controversial musician.
The split occurred just a week after Darlington was released from prolonged detention by the Nigerian police over allegations of cyberstalking Burna Boy.
In a viral video posted on his Instagram page, the singer made it clear that he wouldn’t be taking unsolicited advice, emphasizing that he funds his own career.
“I’m heading to the studio to make more music. My life is my content. No one should tell me what to post. If you’re tired of supporting me, then leave. Let my God guide me.
“People talk about support, but how many actually spend money? I spend my own money, so keep your advice to yourself. I’ve been through a lot, and I don’t fear the same things anymore.”
Throwing shade at Burna Boy, he captioned the post: “Always singing about police brutality in Nigeria, yet he hired the police to keep me detained for longer. And all you can say is ‘leave him and move on’?”
NAIJALOG recalls that Darlington was arrested twice in October and November 2024 after mocking Burna Boy’s relationship with American rapper Diddy. He also claimed Burna’s 2021 Grammy win was linked to his alleged ties with Diddy.
In October 2024, Darlington released the diss track “Baby Oil,” targeting Burna Boy and Diddy. The song gained traction on Spotify Nigeria, and since his second release from Kuje prison, Darlington has consistently incorporated the track into his content.
Following his release, he assured fans he was coming back stronger, stating, “I went to gather energy and I’m launching back with a banger!”
