Omoyele Sowore, a media personality and Presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has denied being a spy for the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
On Sunday, November 13, Sowore debunked the rumor while speaking at a town hall meeting with three other candidates.
A member of the audience asked the presidential candidate if he was a CIA agent during a town hall meeting organized by Arise TV in collaboration with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).
In response to the question, Sowore stated that if he was a CIA agent, his arrest by DSS operatives in Lagos on 3 August 2019 would have resulted in President Muhammadu Buhari’s “disappearance.”
He also said that he has not accepted US citizenship even though he has lived in the country for over 20 years.
Sowore said;
“I am not a CIA agent, if I was, Buhari would have disappeared from the surface of the earth when he detained me. You cannot do that with CIA agent. I am a Nigerian, I have not even accepted a US citizenship and I have lived there for 20 years.”
