Popular musician and songwriter Connell Cruise has sealed an international deal with American label Epic Records.
His hit track ‘Not Just Friends’ which topped the South African iTunes chart in April caught the label’s attention, and they officially sealed the deal last week.
Epic Records rep Matt Maschi spoke of his belief in the Johannesburg singer ‘Beyond the numbers, I thought it was a good song ‘It has a positive message – it’s loud, big and has an element of sound that doesn’t come from here in America. It has this world sound that comes from South Africa.’
Connell, who is signed to local South African label David Gresham Records also expressed his excitement, saying ‘It’s a dream so big, I couldn’t have possibly dreamed anything close to it. This is where the future is going to lift off from.’
The deal, which will see the artiste relocate to US to extend his reach, also includes regular trips back to South Africa to perform for his fans.
