Sophia Momodu, the first mother of singer Davido’s daughter, Imade, has reportedly submitted a 102-paragraph affidavit opposing his request for joint custody.
Davido filed a suit seeking joint custody of his daughter just before his traditional wedding, claiming that Sophia was preventing him from seeing Imade and extorting money from him.
The singer stated that he and Sophia had ended their relationship several years ago and had agreed to co-parent their child. However, he alleged that Sophia did not honor this agreement, saying that she rejected his offer of a house and demanded a monthly rent of N5 million, among other things.
In response, Sophia claimed that she was involved with Davido from 2020 to 2022 while he was in a relationship with Chioma. She denied allegations of denying him access to Imade, revealing that Davido had never attempted to see their daughter and had abandoned her because she refused to have a sexual relationship with him.
It has been reported that Sophia’s legal team, Dr. Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorneys and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, has filed a 102-paragraph affidavit contesting Davido’s request for joint custody. The next hearing for the estranged couple is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2024.
