Life coach and social critic, Solomon Buchi, has stirred debate after mocking media personality Toke Makinwa for attributing her pregnancy announcement to God.
Toke recently shared that she had prayed to become a mother before turning 40, a testimony she made public while celebrating the news of her pregnancy.
In response, Buchi congratulated her but criticized the act of linking the announcement to divine intervention.
“I’m happy that Toke is having a child at almost 40; it seems it’s something she really desired as a woman, but I have a problem with mixing Jesus and God with it. She talked about how she had an agreement with God that she really wanted to be a mother,” he said.
According to him, connecting the testimony to God was misleading since parenthood, by biblical standards, should occur within marriage.
“We really need to be very careful how we mix God with our personal decisions. You are having a child outside of wedlock, there is no need bringing God into that, spiritualizing it. Honestly, you can give your testimony without infusing God into it because according to God’s standard, the only right way to be a parent is in the premise of marriage,” he added.
His comments have sparked heated reactions, with many fans and celebrities defending Toke’s choice to celebrate her testimony in her own way.
