How do you do folks? It’s Fashion Thursday and today we’re going to be talking about skirts. Skirts are a major clothing item for most women, and for our sisters who do not subscribe to trousers, it really is the only “bottom piece”. You can rock a skirt and look good, you just need to find the right fit for your body type as with all other items of clothing. When I look around, all I see is girls in pencil skirts or body-con. There’s a lot more to life than skin-tight and figure hugging really. We’re going to look at the different skirts a lady can use to spice up her wardrobe and create variety for any and every occasion.
1. Pencil Skirt
I have to write about this, it’s the easiest to do. This kind of skirt works well on curvy women, but is also good on most body types. It can also be paired with crop tops, tie front tops and even dress shirts for the office.
2. Skater Skirts
Skater skirts are fast becoming a trend at the moment. Fun, free and chic; skater skirts fit every body type perfectly. Full-figured girls can accentuate their curves, while girls with edges can create the illusion and soften their silhouettes. Skater skirts are basically a modern, flirty take on the A-line. My advice to you? Cop a skater skirt today!
3. Maxi Skirt
This is really a skirt for all ages. It’s long enough to be decent, but also stylish. It comes in different shapes, with full flowing, pencil-shaped and even high-waist-ed maxi skirts. It can also be worn to the office, to church, to the beach and any other place you choose (well, no; don’t wear it to go dancing, you’ll trip and fall)
4. Midi Skirts
Yeah, so we have minis and maxis; why not midis? Midi skirts stop just below the knees about half way to the ankles. They’re seen mainly in the A-line category, but have now come to include body-con skirts, pleated skirts, circle skirts and even pencil skirts. I’m usually the girl who says on the knees or nothing; but I think that midis are a great fit for anyone looking to be stylish without looking frumpish (where do I come up with these words?).
5. Pleated Skirts
Pleated skirts are not just for older ladies, you 20-something looking lady with your fine self, you too can rock pleats without looking frumpish (there’s that word again). Pleats work best in the midi category, but can also be worn mini or maxi.
6. Denim Skirts
Okay, I know some of you are already thinking, “Really? Denim skirts? In 2014?” Yes in 2014. Denim skirts can be stylish and chic. Just find a flattering fit. I’m personally loving the distressed denim trend going on right now. The acid washed and trashed look is also getting points from me. Which look are you willing to try?
What skirts are you going to be wearing? Do you think there are any other great pieces I left out? Let me know in the comment section. Thank you and enjoy the weekend.
