Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, after failing to meet the bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court.
The court had granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million, requiring two sureties of equal value.
According to the court, one of the sureties must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), while the second must be a resident property owner in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Ilorin, with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.
Portable is facing charges related to criminal defamation, intimidation, incitement of public unrest, and cyberbullying. These allegations are linked to a live Instagram session in which he allegedly defamed fellow artist Okunola Saheed Osupa, popularly known as Osupa.
In the video, Portable reportedly accused Osupa of being jealous of his fame and attempting to ruin his image. Osupa later filed a petition on March 21, 2025, leading to the charges being filed under First Information Report (FIR) 117(1) CPC.
Until Portable satisfies the bail requirements, he will remain in custody. The court has adjourned the matter and urged all parties to remain respectful and orderly as the legal proceedings continue.
