Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, attended the funeral service of the mother of former President Umar Musa Yar’Adua on Tuesday.
Other notable attendees included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Governor Umar Dikko Radda; and the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The service was also graced by Datti Baba Ahmed, Senator Ahmad Lawal, former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Senator Adamu Aleiro, business tycoon Dahiru Mangal, and the emirs of Katsina and Daura, among others.
The funeral prayer for the late Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua took place at the Katsina Township Stadium, Yar’Adua Quarters, and was led by Sheikh Aminu Yammawa.
Earlier reports from Naijalog stated that Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua passed away on Monday evening at the Katsina Teaching Hospital. She was the mother of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Nigeria’s President from 2007 until his death in 2010, and was known for her strong character and the significant influence she had on her son’s life and career.
Hajiya Dada was also the mother of the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the current Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.
