Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kebbi State to meet with state officials and the families of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
According to NAIJALOG, Shettima’s aircraft touched down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi.
He arrived in the company of the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, along with other federal officials.
Shettima’s visit follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive for him to travel from Abuja to Kebbi, where he will deliver the President’s message to the people, receive updates on the incident, and relay the situation back to Tinubu.
Tinubu Cancels Foreign Trips Amid Insecurity
The tragic attack on the school led to the death of the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, who was reportedly killed while trying to stop the bandits from abducting the students.
Police authorities announced on Monday that a joint tactical team has been sent into the forests to search for the kidnapped girls.
President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the assault and expressed sympathy to the families affected.
He has also postponed his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, where he was scheduled to attend the 20th G20 Summit and the 7th AU-EU Summit, respectively.
