Senator Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian lawmaker, has reacted to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) recently released Naira notes.
The much-maligned new Naira notes of N200, N500, and N1000 were unveiled on Wednesday during a Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, warned against hoarding the old notes at the unveiling, stating that the January 31st, 2023 deadline to completely render the old notes useless still stands.
Senator Sani, on the other hand, expressed surprise that the new notes only had a color change. He revealed this in a brief message on his verified Twitter account.
He wrote, “If it’s Naira colour, the CBN should have just engaged Snapchat.”
