While Nigeria navigates a period of heightened security challenges, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has officially taken a new bride, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
A High-Profile Union
The new bride is notably the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Her previous marriage to the monarch began with a traditional ceremony in March 2016 but ended in divorce by August 2017.
The union was announced publicly on Friday by family member Abraham Double-d Dajoh via Facebook, who welcomed her to Benue State and the Tiv nation.
The statement read:
“We, the entire Dajoh family, happily join our daddy, uncle, and brother, His Excellency, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume Jugu Dajoh, in welcoming his new and uncommon wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, into the Dajoh family.
We appreciate and thank the fans and supporters of Sen. Akume for always standing by him. We enjoin every one of you to continue to support his Excellency even in this beautiful union with Queen Zaynab. We wish you all a happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.”
Timing Draws Attention
The celebration comes at a critical moment for the nation. As the SGF celebrates his new marriage, the country is grappling with severe security issues involving bandits and terrorists.
Just recently, US President Donald Trump authorized airstrikes against terrorist targets in North-West Nigeria to curb violence against Christians. Additionally, panic spread in Kwara State following reports of an explosion in the Offa area just hours after the airstrikes.
