Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, has denied serious allegations made against him by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, calling them baseless and defamatory.
In a statement shared via Instagram on Friday, Seyi Tinubu expressed disbelief over the accusations, writing: “Wow… how can someone lie so confidently? Wow wow… This is clearly an attempt to tarnish my image. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”
He further clarified in a separate post, “I have never met Comrade Isah knowingly, let alone held any meeting with him to discuss anything in Lagos or elsewhere. I’ve never been to any location with thugs. These claims are entirely made up.”
His response was triggered by a press conference held on Wednesday, during which Comrade Isah alleged that both Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, attempted to bribe him with N100 million in Lagos to endorse the president’s leadership. Isah said he turned down the offer, stating he could not support a president who he believed had failed to deliver.
He went on to claim he was abducted on April 15, stripped, and severely beaten—allegedly with the involvement of the Managing Director of NTA. According to him, he was coerced into issuing a press statement under duress, as threats were made to leak a video of the assault.
Isah also alleged that after refusing the bribe, he received threats that any fallout would be covered up. He said one of the individuals involved warned that even if he were killed, Seyi Tinubu would ensure the matter was buried. He cited a certain Ladoja, who allegedly claimed he could instruct the Inspector General of Police to suppress any investigation.
Despite these threats, Isah said he remained committed to speaking out. “Even if I were shot, I would still be here today,” he declared. “The inauguration went on, and I was announced as NANS president. Nigerians deserve to know the truth. Seyi Tinubu may try to silence us, but we will not back down.”
