Renowned Nigerian comedian, Oluwaseyitan Lawrence Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has firmly stated that he will never back the presidential aspirations of former Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.
Speaking on the Teju Babyface podcast, Seyi Law explained that his decision stems from Obi’s refusal to rein in his supporters — widely known as the “Obidients.” According to him, members of the Obidient movement launched personal attacks on his wife and children simply because he voiced support for President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed deep disappointment that Peter Obi continues to deny these attacks occurred, instead of acknowledging and addressing the toxic behavior of some of his followers.
Seyi Law said:
“I don’t feel bad when people talk about me — I might even curse you out. But one of God’s blessings for me is that I don’t hold on to anger for long.
“However, when it crosses over from me to my family — my kids, my wife, my mother — there’s no room for forgiveness. That’s where I draw the line.
“No matter what Peter Obi does, even if he puts on the robe of Jesus Christ, I’ll never support him. Not after what his followers did to my family.
“And as long as he keeps acting like it didn’t happen or refuses to call them to order, he’ll never get my support.
“To me, any group or movement that shuts down free thinking is nothing but a cult.”
