Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Fela Kuti, has expressed that late President Muhammadu Buhari caused immense harm to his family—more than to any other in Nigeria.

Reflecting on Buhari’s passing, Seun stated that while the former president deeply wronged his family during his military rule, his death does not equate to justice. He recalled how his father and uncles, Koye and Beko, were allegedly persecuted under Buhari’s leadership and tragically died long before him.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Seun shared his frustration, saying the only consolation he finds is the thought of his late relatives confronting Buhari in the afterlife—if such exists.

“There’s nobody Buhari has offended and damaged like my family. Buhari dealt with my family, but his death is not any type of justice or victory for my family.
My only regret is that my dad Fela, and my uncles Koye and Beko died before him; all better men than him. The only solace I can take from his death is that the three of them will gang up against him in the afterlife if there’s such a thing.”

Buhari, who served as both military Head of State and later as civilian president, died on Sunday in a London hospital. He was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
