During the Senate plenary on Thursday, March 13, Senator Godswill Akpabio criticized Senator Natasha Akpoti for misrepresenting facts at the United Nations, thereby tarnishing the Senate’s reputation on a global stage.

He expressed disappointment, stating that she had exaggerated the issue and misled the international community, creating an inaccurate narrative. Akpabio acknowledged Hon. Kafilat for setting the record straight and clarifying the true situation to the global audience.

He further noted that Akpoti initially brought her complaint to the Senate through a petition but did not allow the matter to be properly reviewed before escalating it to the courts and then to an international platform. According to him, such actions could deter politicians from considering women for key positions in the future.
