The State Security Service (SSS) has commenced security screening for candidates aspiring to succeed Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Central Bank of Nigeria governor after his tenure expires in June, reports ThisDay.
Already, about five candidates for the plum job have gone through the SSS screening. They include Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, former Managing Director of Access Bank; Atedo Peterside, founder and pioneering Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Plc;; Stephen Olabisi Onasanya, Managing Director/CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Limited; Olusegun Aganga, Minister of Trade and Investment and Mustafa Chike-Obi, Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON)
A fresh list of another 3 candidates, mainly CBN staff, will be forwarded to the SSS this week for screening. They are Tunde Lemo, immediate past Deputy Governor Operations; Dr. Sarah Alade, Deputy Governor, Economic Policy and Dr. Kingsley Moghalu, Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability.
Names of candidates who scaled the screening will be forwarded to the President for consideration. The final name will presented to the Senate for confirmation.
