Ahmed Wadada of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has been declared the winner of the Nasarawa West senatorial district election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Despite being in the zone of the ruling APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, the party lost the Nasarawa West senatorial seat in Saturday’s National Assembly elections.
Due to litigation issues, the Independent National Electoral Commission did not list the APC candidate, Shehu Tukur, to run for the Senate seat.
Prof Nasiruddeen Baba, the INEC returning agent for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, said the SDP’s Wadada received 96,488 votes, while the APC received 47,717 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party received 46,820 votes, while the Labour Party received 33,228 votes.
