Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, declares his intention to cover Adebola Akin-Bright’s medical costs at age 12, whose small intestines are said to have vanished.
This comes after Deborah Abiodun, the boy’s mother, requested assistance from the governor. She claims that when he was having treatment at LASUTH, his small intestines vanished.
However, Sanwo-Olu made a promise on his X (formerly Twitter) profile on Sunday when paying the youngster and his mother an unannounced visit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Adebola’s recovery and reunification with his family.
“I unexpectedly dropped by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) to see Debola Akin-Bright.
Debola’s mother and the medical professionals in charge of his treatment were also heard, and he said, “I gave him my word that I would not only take over his medical care and expenses, but that I would also make sure that everything is done to get him better, and back at home with his loved ones.”
In a statement on September 3rd, LASUTH denied altering the boy’s small intestines.
Once more, the hospital administration must provide clarification on the allegations made by a mother in a popular video that the claimed loss of her son’s intestines following surgery is a dispute between LASUTH and a private hospital. Our hospital is a top-notch tertiary facility with exceptionally experienced and skilled medical advisors.
Additionally, we have cutting-edge facilities. After undergoing two procedures in a private hospital, the patient in issue was referred to our facility.
He needed to be thoroughly optimized in our facilities before having a repair surgery. A skilled pediatric surgeon and her colleagues performed the surgery, during which some odd results were found. These intraoperative discoveries are captured on camera. Despite being apprised of these facts, the mother seemed to remain in denial. The hospital has a thorough report of the conclusions of a powerful panel it promptly assembled to investigate all implications of this case.
“It is obvious that our facility performed a remedial procedure and did not purposefully remove any organ or tissue. We sympathize with the patient’s family. We think that receiving money from any source will be appropriate, but we don’t think that using social media to blackmail the state government is the ideal strategy.
The hospital administration is working with the state body that is looking into this terrible event.
