Queens Park Rangers have agreed to sign South Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung from Manchester United, while Salomon Kalou of Chelsea has joined French side Lille on a free transfer.
“Lille confirm the signing of Salomon Kalou, who passed a medical this morning after arriving at the club last night,” the 2011 French champions announced on their website.
“I am excited about coming here and look forward to meeting the warmest of fans.”
Kalou, who scored 60 goals in six seasons for Chelsea, was a free agent after leaving the Champions League winners when his contract expired at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, reports said the agreement reached between QPR and Manchester United is worth 5.0 million pounds ($7.75 million), a breakdown reveals that QPR will need to pay an initial transfer fee of 2.0 million for the 31-year-old who, a year ago, signed a two-year deal to stay at United until the end of the 2012-13 season. The remaining 3 million will be paid if only the side does not get relegated.
Park, who has made over 200 appearances for United since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2005, has a reputation as a big game player able to relentlessly break up opposition attacks and send his own team mates on the offensive.
