Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially signed the 2025 budget into law, amounting to ₦1.1 trillion.
The budget, titled “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” was submitted to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State House of Assembly on December 30, 2024.
In a statement shared on his X account, Fubara expressed gratitude to the state lawmakers and his executive team for their dedication. He emphasized that the budget prioritizes education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure to drive development in the state.
“Today, I signed the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill into law, tagged ‘Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,’ valued at ₦1.1 trillion. I appreciate the Rivers State House of Assembly for their diligence and my executive team for their steadfast commitment to service,” Fubara wrote.
He added, “Together, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous year. I thank everyone and wish you a happy and successful New Year as we continue our mission to make Rivers State great.”
The 2025 budget proposal, initially presented on December 30, 2024, was an increase from the previous year’s ₦800 billion allocation. However, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized the governor, accusing him of bypassing legislative processes. The APC cited a similar scenario in 2024 when Fubara allegedly ignored a factional 27-member Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule, an ally of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
