The corpse of Cynthia Osokogu, the only daughter of Major General Frank Osokogu (retd) has been discovered in a Lagos mortuary, two months after she was classified as a missing person.
The postgraduate student of Nassarawa State University was last seen on July 22, 2012, shortly before she boarded a flight to buy goods for her boutique and conclude an undisclosed business transaction with some persons who have now become prime suspects in the case.
According to a source, it was these persons that invited her to Lagos and even paid for her flight ticket.
Records show that she was received on arrival in Lagos by the group and they visited cum accompained her to hotel where she lodged in FESTAC,Lagos.
The source further said she was killed in the hotel and then her body was deposited at the mortuary by the culprits.
A CCTV footage of the alleged culprits presented by the hotel is also said to be aiding the police in their investigation, the source added.
The police allege that the culprits belong to a syndicate that specialise in luring young women to Lagos for “evil purpose”.
Six persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
