An unidentified INEC official was kidnapped at the Amassoma Community jetty in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State while preparing to board a boat. Wilfred Ifogah, the Head of Department for Voters Education and Publicity in Bayelsa State, provided this information in an interview with Daily Trust. Additionally, Ifogah reported that a boat transporting election personnel to registration area 17 in Koluama Community, Southern Ijaw LGA, capsized, resulting in the loss of election materials, including result sheets. Fortunately, all 12 personnel and the boat operator were rescued with no casualties. The lost items included result sheets, power banks, and personal belongings of the staff. Despite these challenges, INEC is working to ensure the election proceeds in the affected area. Furthermore, Ifogah mentioned the abduction of an INEC SPO assigned to registration area 06 (Ossioma) in Sagbama LGA at the Amassoma jetty while waiting to board a boat, and the security agencies have been informed of the incident.
