During her address to the press following the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration, Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, urged state governors to enforce the death penalty for criminals involved in the abduction of children across the nation. She expressed deep concern over the heinous act, labeling kidnappers as sick, cruel, and cowardly individuals. Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of protecting children, highlighting them as the nation’s future and parents’ investments. She questioned the rationale behind targeting innocent children and underscored the need for swift and severe punishment for those responsible. As a former lawmaker, Mrs. Tinubu firmly asserted her belief that anyone involved in such crimes should face capital punishment, echoing the sentiments shared by many mothers.
