Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, has stated that he is unaware of Erling Haaland’s release clause at Manchester City.
Haaland joined the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
In just 14 games for City, the striker has already scored 20 goals.
Madrid was another club interested in signing Haaland, and the club is still being linked with a move for him.
According to The Athletic, his five-year contract has a €200 million (£175.5 million) release clause that takes effect in 2024.
Alf Inge Haaland, Haaland’s father, recently stated that he wants to “prove his abilities in all leagues” and that his City stint will last “three or four years at most.”
If Haaland were to leave City, Madrid would be the most obvious next destination, but Perez has moved to downplay any suggestion that the La Liga champions are planning a move.
“Erling Haaland’s release clause?” “I honestly have no idea,” he admitted.
“At Real Madrid, we have the best players in the world.”
