Famed American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by federal agents on Monday night at a Manhattan hotel in New York, following a grand jury indictment, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Combs has been under intense scrutiny for nearly a year, largely due to accusations made by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a civil lawsuit. Her claims led to at least 10 more lawsuits against him. Despite the mounting legal challenges, Combs has consistently denied all allegations.
While the specific charges have not been revealed, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, criticized the US Attorney’s Office, calling the prosecution unjust. He also pointed out that Combs willingly traveled to New York in anticipation of the charges.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community,” he added in a statement.
The lawyer added …
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminalTo his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
